Aunet was the first known stop after the refugees fled Þýdal by longboat.

• After Hoffer called the strategic retreat from Þýdal, the refugees rowed downriver and stopped at Aunet for a short break.
• Hoffer warned the people there about the battle and the horde.
• He reported that Þýdal's defenders had killed at least three giants, dozens of orcs, and perhaps as many as a hundred goblins, but that the remaining army was still larger than that.
