====== Hjaltland ======

Hjaltland is the Norse name used in the campaign for the Shetland Islands. It is a northern island destination reached by sea from [[campaigns:latitude_history:places:nidaross|Niðaróss]]. Records use it as a frontier location for settlers, undead danger, a rescued badger family, and access to deeper Atlantean ruins.

===== Campaign History =====

  * [[campaigns:latitude_history:characters:caleb-gandalfson|Caleb Gandalfson]] helped settlers in Hjaltland and fought undead threats there, including zombies and an ogre zombie connected to a barrow and a [[campaigns:latitude_history:lore:draugr-stone|Draugr Stone]].
  * Before [[campaigns:latitude_history:adventures:fires-at-the-fjordgate|Fires at the Fjordgate]], [[campaigns:latitude_history:characters:skrappe-frappe|Skrappe Frappe]] participated in the Hjaltland adventure. The party rescued a family of [[creatures:badgers|badgers]] from goblins, and Caleb's [[campaigns:latitude_history:lore:wand-of-wonder|Wand of Wonder]] permanently enlarged the badger now known as [[campaigns:latitude_history:characters:bitey-boy-brock|Bitey Boy Brock]]. That rescue is how Brock met Skrappe.
  * Beneath or near the barrow, adventurers found a tunnel leading toward an Atlantean outpost.
  * Adventurers found and befriended Terrible Terrors, tiny flame-breathing dragons living in Hjaltland.
  * Separate northern expedition records also describe the fictional [[campaigns:latitude_history:places:aetherstone-islands|Aetherstone Islands]] northeast of Iceland. Those islands are distinct from Hjaltland.
