Atlantean Arcanist's Guide to Wandcraft
The Atlantean Arcanist's Guide to Wandcraft is an ancient Atlantean instructional book discovered by Caleb Gandalfson in the Hjaltland barrow outpost material. The original text is written in Atlantean, but Caleb has begun translating it into our language so other spellcasters can study its techniques for designing, crafting, repairing, and wielding magic wands.

The Guide is not merely a catalog of wand recipes. It treats a wand as a conversation between the caster, the chosen material, the spell pattern, and the wielder's habits. Its lessons combine workshop procedure, arcane theory, safety warnings, exercises for spell focus, and philosophical notes about why a wand should amplify discipline rather than replace it.
The Atlantean original appears to assume access to advanced workshops, precise rune tools, and materials now considered rare or legendary. Caleb's translation therefore includes practical notes for modern Midgard crafters: substitutions for lost Atlantean reagents, warnings where the original assumes training the reader does not have, and examples drawn from his own wand use.
Core wandcraft ideas preserved in the translation include:
- A wand should be shaped around a magical purpose before it is shaped around a spell.
- Wood, bone, horn, metal, crystal, Aetherstone, and other materials carry different arcane habits.
- The crafter must tune the grip, core, focus tip, and rune channel so the wand responds to the intended wielder.
- A wand made for one style of caster may resist another, even when both can technically use it.
- Repairing a damaged wand requires restoring its internal pattern, not merely mending the outer body.
- Dangerous wands often fail because their command pattern is too vague, their core is overfed, or their casing cannot safely vent excess force.
