Return to the Sickened Sky-Stone

By the time refugees from Þýdal had reached Niðaróss, stories about the fallen sky-stone had changed. It was no longer only the source of the metal that armed defenders. Ásgeirr Axelson heard that goblins from the great army were moving toward the crater and that draugrveiki was spreading there. At a town þing, he called for volunteers to learn whether the sickness could be stopped.

The party set out northeast toward the old crater. On the second day, they found the remains of a hunter's camp and a bloody trail leading away through the wild. Six wolves attacked while the party searched the scene. Some had already become draugrveiki beasts; others still showed the earlier corruption of the disease. The fight proved that the danger was not rumor.

A diseased hunter came near afterward and warned them about the wolves. The party killed him to stop the spread before learning anything more from him. Then they pressed on toward the crater, rested near the site, and found the goblin investigators who had come to study the same corruption.

The final battle began across open ground, with goblins running down from rocky crater slopes while the party moved from a grassy hillside. The enemy force included artificers, a tracker, a slinger, and goblins already changed by draugrveiki. They were not simply survivors picking through old wreckage. They were trying to understand how the meteor's sickness could be turned into a tool.

After the fighting, Wavesia Fjordmist cleansed the meteor area with her water elemental powers. That act ended the crater's role as an active source of disease and closed the second sky-stone expedition. Niðaróss had sent volunteers into a poisoned wound in the land, and they returned with the wound cauterized.
