Orb of Crafting

The Orb of Crafting is an Atlantean magical crafting orb recovered from the armory in the Aetherstone Islands Atlantean outpost and claimed by Netheril Faerdhal. Its exact mechanics are not currently remembered, but it is now installed in Netheril's workshop at Thordak's Floating Bastion.

The Orb of Crafting was found in the Atlantean armory hovering above or near an anvil. Source notes describe the anvil and orb together as a magical crafting station for tinkering with discovered weapons. Netheril figured out how to use the orb to empower Aetherstone crystals into fully enhanced anti-gravity items. She first used that breakthrough to attach empowered Aetherstone to a rope so the remaining party could escape the outpost after the exit rope was cut. The party then gathered enough wood and Aetherstone to build a levitating longship that Skythor could pull.

Netheril later used the orb, Aetherstone access, and collaboration with MechaKirby in the work that led to the Aetherstone-powered floating shield wall at the Battle of Niðaróss.

The orb is currently installed in Netheril Faerdhal's workshop at Thordak's Floating Bastion, where it supports her artificer research, Aetherstone work, crafting, and potion production.
