The Flying Karve is a legendary Aetherstone-powered Norse travel ship associated with Thordak Faerdhal and Skythor.

===== Details =====

This small Norse travel ship is made of wood and has an array of Aetherstones around its upper hull. At the front it has a harness that can be fitted to a small dragon.

Its origin traces back to [[campaigns:latitude_history:adventures:the-outpost-beneath-the-aetherstone-tree|The Outpost Beneath the Aetherstone Tree]], when Netheril Faerdhal used the Orb of Crafting to empower Aetherstone crystals into anti-gravity items. The party gathered enough wood and Aetherstone from nearby islands to build a levitating boat that Skythor could pull.

When the Aetherstones are activated, the karve can levitate, floating up several hundred feet or possibly more. It cannot move on its own, so it has a mast for a sail, though that is usually stowed in favor of the ship being pulled by a flying creature.

The Flying Karve can carry up to 12 people and a reasonable amount of cargo. It can also work as a regular sailing ship using its mast and sail, or it can be rowed by up to 8 rowers.

The Flying Karve has Armor Class 15 and 100 hit points. When pulled by a flying creature, it can travel at half the creature's speed.
