Aunet

Just a couple hours downstream from Þýdal, or about a half day's walk, is the town of Aunet. With longhouses scattered about, it looks fairly chaotic, but most of the 60 or so families like it that way. Farm animals roam freely, yet everyone knows which animals belong to which families. There is one large (for the town) smithy in the middle of town near a covered well.

Niðaróss

Niðaróss is one of the largest and most important towns in Norway during the Viking Age. Nestled deep in the Þróndheimsfjorden, it serves as a major port for the region. This page describes our version of Niðaróss around 800 A.D.

At this time, the town is home to around 100–200 families. While it isn’t quite large enough to support permanent standalone shops, it boasts a lively and well-traveled marketplace. Most business takes place in homes, some of which have accessory structures d…

Location

Orkanger is a prominent coastal town where the river Ork meets the Orkdal Fjord, an arm of the Þróndheimsfjorden. The name “Orkanger” translates to “the inlet of the river Ork,” highlighting its geographical significance. The river Ork, renowned for its abundant life, including salmon, runs through the Orkdalen valley, beginning at Orkvatn (Ork Lake). This river valley starts steep with rugged cliffs but gradually becomes wider, shallower, and more fertile as it approaches the fjord. T…

Þýdal (Modern day Tydal, Medieval Thidalen or Tydalen)

Deep in northern Scandinavia where the rivers Þý (Tya) and Nea meet is a small village. Nestled in a dale, an open valley with lush fields and woodlands, the village is home to around 40 families that are mostly farmers.
