  • Rock Chewer. As a bonus action, if adjacent to stone, the troll regains 3 hit points.
  • Loose Stones Everywhere. The cave provides plenty of throwable rocks.
  • Rock Throw. Ranged Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, range 20/60 ft. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) bludgeoning damage.
  • Panicked Scramble. When hit, the troll may move 10 feet away. It can do this once per round.

Lesser Stone Troll Grunts are small, hunched creatures with rough, rock-like skin and glowing cracks between the stone. Lesser Stone Troll Throwers are small, lanky creatures with long arms, rough rock-like skin, and glowing cracks between the stone.

  • Use them as a cave encounter that rewards noticing sunlight, ceiling cracks, breakable stone, and open cave mouths.
  • Make the sunlight curse visible before it becomes a tactical solution: slowed motion, stiffening joints, and stone dust falling from cracks.
  • For a large low-level party, mix grunts and throwers so the encounter has movement, ranged pressure, and clear ways to solve it without only trading attacks.
  • This group is tied to Wolves on the Road to Selbu and Stormhowl's pack cave-reclamation sequence, not the Hearthforge adventures.
