Squirrels
Small tree creatures made mythically important by Ratatoskr, the gossiping messenger of Yggdrasil.
In the North
Ordinary squirrels belong in forests, farms with trees, and nut stores. They are useful because they make canopy movement visible to attentive characters.
Myth and Folklore
Ratatoskr runs along Yggdrasil carrying words between the eagle above and Níðhöggr below. That makes squirrels excellent symbols of gossip, messages, and trouble made by repeated words.
Campaign Use
Use squirrels as harmless animals, druidic messengers, fey-touched gossipers, or comic but consequential carriers of overheard secrets.
