Snakes
Cold-blooded hazards of rock, heath, and story, linked in myth to venom, treasure, boundaries, and world-encircling fear.
In the North
Northern snakes are usually small compared with tropical serpents, but venomous adders can still matter around rocks, heather, and summer paths. Larger serpents should feel supernatural or foreign.
Myth and Folklore
Jörmungandr, the world-serpent, gives snakes enormous mythic weight. Smaller snakes can echo venom, hidden danger, cursed treasure, and the edge of Ragnarök without being divine themselves.
Campaign Use
Use snakes as natural hazards, poison sources, omen animals near cursed treasure, or scaled-down reflections of greater serpent threats.
