They work best as death-hounds, oath-hounds, or underworld guardians rather than generic infernal pets. ===== Myth and Folklore ===== Garmr is often described as a great hound connected to Gnipahellir and the events of Ragnarök. He gives northern shape to the idea of a monstrous guardian dog. ===== Campaign Use ===== Use hellhounds as guardians of barrows, Hel-touched roads, oathbreakers’ halls, or gates that should not be crossed by the living. ===== See Also ===== * [[:creatures|Norse Creatures]] ===== Sources ===== * Garmr: https://grokipedia.com/page/Garmr * Hel: <https://grokipedia.com/page/Hel_(mythological_being)> ===== Game Master Notes ===== DM-only encounter details, stat blocks, and running notes are kept at [[dm:creatures:hellhounds-garm|Hellhounds / Garm (DM)]]. creatures/hellhounds-garm.txt Last modified: 2026/07/04 20:06by Ron Helwig
