Hafgufa / Lyngbakr
Island-like sea monsters from northern tradition, useful for ocean awe, false landfalls, and encounters where the terrain is alive.
In the North
These monsters fit sea voyages, fog, fishing grounds, and impossible islands. They are especially useful when the danger is not a tentacle fight but the realization that the crew has landed on something living.
Myth and Folklore
Hafgufa and Lyngbakr appear in Old Norse legendary material as enormous sea beings, sometimes resembling islands or feeding by drawing in fish and ships.
Campaign Use
Use them as living terrain, legendary hazards, or ancient beings that can be bargained with only by characters who understand sea lore.
