====== Hearthspark Heart ======

Given to [[campaigns:latitude_history:characters:netheril-faerdhal|Netheril Faerdhal]] in recognition of the first push toward [[campaigns:latitude_history:places:hearthforge|Hearthforge]]. This is one of the smaller gifts honoring the companions who helped before the final clearing in //Hallowing the Hearthforge//.

===== Description and Rules =====

A tiny Hearthforge furnace-heart housed in a runed breastplate, with mithral struts connecting it to Netheril's mechanical dragon's wings. The dwarves honor her as a fellow maker by joining their craft to hers.

**Reinforced Frame.** While installed in your existing mechanical draconic homunculus, the heart gives the homunculus +1 AC. This bonus applies to the homunculus, not to your own Armor Class. The upgrade requires no additional infusion slot.

**Hearthspark (1/Short or Long Rest).** The heart has one shared use for the following two properties. Once either is used, neither can be used again until you finish a Short or Long Rest. The +1 AC remains active while the use is expended.

**Reaction: Deflecting Flare.** While within 5 feet of you, the homunculus can use its Reaction when an attacker it can see targets either of you with an attack. Before the attack roll, it imposes disadvantage on that one attack. This spends the homunculus's Reaction and requires no command or action from you.

**Precision Spark.** While assisting you within 5 feet, the homunculus supplies a controlled spark, reagent drop, or steadying adjustment. Before you roll a check using tinker's tools or alchemist's supplies, or a check using thieves' tools to disarm a trap, expend the shared use and add 1d4 to that check. This adds no separate action cost to the task. Normal tools and any required proficiency still apply. This bonus can be used even if you already have advantage.
