From the very first glow of dawn that reflected off the fjord outside her family’s tide‑pool home, Fireetta showed an uncanny fascination with light and warmth. While her twin sister Wavesia splashed happily in the surf, Fireetta would sit on the sun‑warmed rocks, tracing patterns in the salt spray and watching the sunrise ignite the horizon in gold and crimson. As a toddler she delighted the villagers by turning tiny bubbles into flickering motes of reddish‑orange light—harmless sparks that danced over the water like fireflies at dusk. Those playful flares were the earliest sign that, unlike her water‑touched sister, Fireetta’s magic ran hot and bright.
By eight years old the difference between the twins was unmistakable. Wavesia coaxed gentle ripples; Fireetta conjured brief, ember‑tainted flashes—little tongues of flame that hissed harmlessly when they met the sea air.
