Sea Serpent

Sea Serpent

Lesser kin or echoes of Jörmungandr: long ocean serpents that threaten ships, reefs, and storm-dark waters.

In the North

Sea serpents are excellent mid-to-high level threats for fjords and coastal voyages. They should appear first as wakes, missing seals, broken oars, or coils under clear water.

Myth and Folklore

Jörmungandr is the world-serpent, too vast for ordinary combat. Lesser sea serpents let the campaign use that imagery at the table without diminishing the mythic original.

Campaign Use

Use sea serpents as ship attackers, guardian beasts, omens of Ragnarök, or creatures warped by old magic under the sea.
