Elk

Elk

Massive antlered forest animals whose strength and scale make them feel close to the giant-haunted wilderness.

In the North

In Scandinavian context, elk often means moose: large, long-legged, and dangerous when startled. They fit bogs, forests, river crossings, and autumn rutting grounds.

Myth and Folklore

Elk are not as famous in Norse myth as wolves or ravens, but their size makes them feel like animals from the edge of giant country. They can carry a local sacred or ancestral meaning in a campaign valley.

Campaign Use

Use elk as difficult hunts, dangerous road-blocks, or mounts for forest spirits and giant-blooded riders.
