Slate Skarnson
Unlike all the other members of his family, Slate didn't like mining. Since his favorite food was smoked salmon, he joined a fishing boat crew, thinking he could get more salmon that way. One day while out gathering in a full net of fish, he spotted a silvery salmon that had a thin gold chain hanging out of its mouth. Quickly seizing it before any of the others on the boat could see, he pulled it out and found there was a small amber gem attached to the golden necklace. Stuffing it in his belt pouch, he acted like nothing had happened.
