====== Goði ====== A goði is a leader with religious and political weight, especially familiar from Icelandic material. The title is connected to sacred duties, feasts, followers, and legal influence rather than to a modern separation of church and state. For a campaign, a goði can be a ritual specialist, local power broker, keeper of custom, mediator at a [[culture:thing|þing]], or patron whose authority depends on reputation and followers. ===== Campaign Use ===== * Leads seasonal rites, sacrifices, funerals, or oath ceremonies. * Interprets custom when a dispute has no easy answer. * Knows which families are feuding and why. * Offers lawful cover for a dangerous mission. * Opposes magic or conduct that threatens the community's relationship with gods and land spirits. ===== Related Pages ===== * [[culture:religion|Religion]] * [[culture:thing|Þing]] * [[culture:jarl|Jarl]]
