The [[campaigns:latitude_history:lore:aetherstone|Aetherstone]] Islands are a fictional remote island chain northeast of Iceland. The party in [[campaigns:latitude_history:adventures:the-lost-voyage-to-sudrey|The Lost Voyage to Suðrey]] reached them after a [[campaigns:latitude_history:places:sudrey|Suðrey]]-bound longship went badly off course during a storm and [[campaigns:latitude_history:lore:frostvedr|frostveðr]] attack. A separate party in [[campaigns:latitude_history:adventures:the-outpost-beneath-the-aetherstone-tree|The Outpost Beneath the Aetherstone Tree]] later reached the chain after fleeing [[campaigns:latitude_history:places:nidaross|Niðaróss]] by stolen longship and sailing northwest through a storm.
The islands are known for gravity-defying [[campaigns:latitude_history:lore:aetherstone|Aetherstone]]. Small dragons eat the stones, including [[campaigns:latitude_history:lore:thunderstone-drake|Thunderstone Drakes]], and the published canon later identifies the Aetherstone Islands as the only known source where Aetherstone can be mined. [[campaigns:latitude_history:lore:terrible-terror|Terrible Terrors]] are present in the island chain.

  * [[campaigns:latitude_history:characters:kris-stormblade|Kris Stormblade]] and [[campaigns:latitude_history:characters:melody-marigold|Melody Marigold]] made friendly contact with Terrible Terrors while the rest of the party repaired the damaged longship.
  * Sea Spawn attacked the ship while trying to steal supplies.
  * A separate party reached the island chain while fleeing pursuit from [[campaigns:latitude_history:places:nidaross|Niðaróss]].
